报告摘要:

Rare-earth metal (Sc, Y and lanthanide metal) complexes have diversified coordinating structure, interesting physical properties and rich reactivity, and have been extensively studied. Numerous of rare-earth metal complexes been synthesized. However, most of them are the complexes containing rare-earth metal-main group element single bonds, and the examples of rare-earth metal-main group element double bonds are very scared. This is not due to the lack of interests in these types of rare-earth metal complexes, but because of the challenges in synthesis of these complexes. HOMO/LUMO orbital energies between the d0 rare-earth metal ions and the imido (or alkylidene) groups are mismatched, the rare-earth metal-main group element double bonds (RE = E) are highly polar and reactive. The rare-earth metal species containing RE = E double bonds once formed easily assemble into the more stable µ or µn (n = 3, 4) bridged bimetallic or multi-metallic species, or undergo reactions with solvents via C-H bond activation. Meanwhile, such complexes are of great concern, not only for the fundamental coordination chemistry but also the expected rich reactivity from the highly reactive RE = E double bonds. Recently, our group synthesized and characterized the first rare-earth metal terminal imido complexes, the scandium terminal imido complexes. We also synthesized and characterized a series of mononuclear rare-earth metal alkylidene complexes. These new types of complexes showed high and intriguing reactivity for small molecule activation.

 Yaofeng Chen received his PhD from Zhejiang University in 1999. After that, he did postdoctoral studies in Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (1999-2002), University of Montreal (2002-2003) and University of California, Santa Barbara (2003-2005). Since 2006, he was a research professor at the State Key Laboratory of Organometallic Chemistry, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received the Chinese National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2013. His research interests lie in the synthesis, bonding and reactivity of new rare-earth metal complexes, especially those containing rare-earth metal-main group element double bonds.
